September birthdays….

September, 9 is the Birthday of our Pastor Reby Walandouw. We planned a surprise party for him by come to his house early in the morning. It happen that my husband not felling well, we’re getting into argument and on the way to his house we got flat tire, so we arrived late. Everybody already there laughing, had breakfast and we join the sharing part. Image

My son Edgar’s Birthday, September 12. We invite my family to have dinner at my brother”s Joe new street foot restaurant “Meja 77”. His wife Ahlyn prepared chicken and fish BBQ for us. The food was ok, is just something wrong with the light, so we ate in candle light.Image

My Mom Birthday, September 22. We had dinner at her place. Again we order the same food from my brother. Its always a wonderful moment to be able to make our parents happy because they have done so many things for us and we can’t thank them enough. Too bad my brother David and his family couldn’t make it, and my Brother Pierre is so far away in Africa. Image

too busy too write…

Too many things going on in my life this past 2 weeks and I don’t know where to begin to write them all. But if I don’t I am going to missed them, so I write things that stuck on my mind, they are:

Learn how to cook Ketupat, Sambel Goreng Hati and Opor Ayam. These are the menu for Lebaran Day and I’ve been craving those food during this time.

My kids’ friends came to sleep over at our house. I told them if they can sleep in non AC room and don’t afraid of dog, I don’t mind at all.

Become the MC, photographer and entertained people in my friend’s son birthday party when I feel really-really tired.

Invite some friends to have dinner with us. Thank God the cook turned out well and Niyomee behaved.

Went to Ciawi for my uncle Birthday Party and had a great time. I especially love the singing Ambonese songs together while holding hands.

Happy to meet an old friend I haven’t see for about 30 years, but not happy with the food served by the restaurant we went to. Expensive but nothing special….

My husband’s cousins came from Surabaya for a job test. Glad to have them for 2 nights at our place. But happy that after they go sleeping arrangement can go back to normal.

My  kids went swimming 3X in a week. and they still think it’s not enough.  Lucky we only have to pay the 2nd one.

Feel bad because I can’t help my friend with the translation she need to submit and didn’t got a chance to visit another friend who just got an operation at the hospital.

Visit my sis-in-law new home at Cibubur area. Too bad the other can’t make it, but we had fun talking, eating and Karaokeing.

Can’t go to the airport to say goodbye to my Dad, brother and sisters who are leaving for London. But maybe it’s good for me because I can be jealous to see people traveling.

Exciting to see my kids saved the money they received from people, they aim to buy BB.

Love my husband for buy me Pandan Bali and put some effort to find out about the Baloon Ride on the internet just because I said I want to do it .

list of my favorite christmas things…

Cookies: Kastengel. This is made of cheese and since I was little I remember my mom made this every Christmas. Now we hardly made our own Christmas cookies, we can buy them at the store, but my sister Rannu still made them once a while.

Movie: Home Alone Series. I didn’t know since when but now every Christmas the telly stations play this movie. Just love the Christmas atmosphere at the same time the thrilled this boy faced the criminals.

Song: Have yourself a merry little Christmas. I know lots of Christmas song but this one I know by heart, is not too long and simple. I like to sing it with my husband and my kids as a Christmas wish for my family and friends

Christmas Card: Home made or Photos. There was time when I bought the Christmas card from store. But since I was Married I love to make my own card. I remember when Jasmine was a baby I made one with a baby picture, and wrote my first Christmas on the top. I also made fron dry leaves and other creation. but 3 years ago I started to make with my family picture. It’s so exciting to find a new design every year.

Books: Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. This is a famous book that made into a movie. I sw the movie before I read the book. But This Christmas I would really like to read the unabridged one. I bought a copy 2 Christmas ago.

Food: any kid of soup and bread. On Christmas morning I always served this for breakfast. I made soup and eat it hot with the bread. I would try this soup-o-soup, I don’t think it’s will be that hard to make.

Decoration: A real Christmas tree & Poinsettia. When I was little we always have a real Christmas tree at home. But now adays people use the artificial one, including my family. I remember when I was in the US we went to buy the real Christmas tree, and just the smell of it make me so happy. I also like Poinsettia, One time after Christmas at our Church, my husband brought back about 20 pots back home. It was from the Church decoration. It just made my Christmas.

Drink: Eggnog. I never know there is a very delicious drink like this until I went to the US. OMG, I can drink a bottle of this. It’s so delicious. I wonder if they sell it in the supermarket here.

Sleepover

This is the second year i arrange a sleepover party for my daughter and her friends. Lala and Ovi are Jasmine’s friends from the church we go to. I am close to their parents as well, so it’s a blessing to have them over. It’s started from Friday afternoon till Sunday morning. Lala came first, then Ovi show up the next morning, cause her dad just get a chance to drop her. Jasmine is a talkative girl but when she’s around her friends it’s even worse, she seems to always have something to say. I learn a lot about tweens, and especially about my daughter from this event.

Last year, I came up with the idea, because we’re not planned to go anywhere during the school’s vacation. I talked to their parents and they’re agree. So it’s happened, They drop their kids over, and these girls have fun for 2 nights at my house. The highlight of last year sleepover was sleeping in a tent  (in the living room) but then they have to move in the bedroom cause so many mosquitos, makeover (including makeup, manicure, and dress up), performance (singing) and off course photo session. I printed up their make over pictures and gave them to their parents.

This year I took them out for some adventure. We went to the rice field, collect some snails, cross a small river,  and on the way back we’re hitchhiked. Even though my daughter was cry at one point, but she enjoy walking in the mud. We also have to walk quite far, but I think as long as they are together, they will do anything. We also had a photo session in the afternoon after they woke up from a nap and made a scrapbook about their friendship.

I kind of envy the kids nowadays. In my childhood I don’t remember having this kind of thing. I did sleepover someone house, but no one really arrange for us to have a good time. No one think about a makeover or adventure. I guess my mom was so busy with 6 kids that she never made one for me. But I am glad to make one for my daughter. One thing I learn you must have plenty of food in the house, because these kids eat a lot.  Another thing is my boy, I need to plan something for him during this time, otherwise he will bother the girls. He wanted to be part of the group (including sleep with them and shower with them) but the girl didn’t want him. Poor Edgar. I am thinking to have a sleepover for him as well.
